Inside BASS: Starks Spreading the Word for Coal Industry

Theirs is a unique partnership born from the unique rules and format of the inaugural season of the CITGO Bassmaster Elite Series designed to allow the anglers to promote themselves and their sponsors.

This is the union of Jeremy Starks and the West Virginia coal-mining industry.

Starks, 32, is a rookie in the Bassmaster Elite Series and his BassCat boat is wrapped with the logo and theme of Friends of Coal — a co-op of coal operators dedicated to informing and educating West Virginia citizens about the coal industry and its role in the state's future.

I am a new member of Friends of Coal. I would like to extend an interesting fact. My father Ronald Largent, is a Long wall Maintenance Supervisor for Emerald Resources in Waynesburg PA. He and his men made history last week, when they dug the widest face in the country. So I would like to let everyone know how proud I am of he and his crew and say that I am proud to be a Coal Miners Daughter.
