GILLETTE, Wyoming (AP): November 11th, 2008-- The executive director of the Wyoming Mining Association, Marion Loomis, says he doesn't expect coal-fired power plants in Wyoming to shut down after Barack Obama takes office next year.

The National Mining Association claimed just before the election that Obama's policies would "bankrupt U.S. coal."

Obama has said the key is figuring out how to use coal without emitting greenhouse gases.

Luke Popovich is a spokesman for the National Mining Association. He says people are expecting Washington to get things done on energy policy.

Popovich says his organization is hopeful that bipartisan cooperation will cause some extreme environmental views about energy to be "cast out the window."
