It is with a grateful heart that on behalf of the Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary Giving Hearts program that we report the following information.

The Giving Hearts program began with a huge response from many contributors.  Words cannot really describe the overwhelming effect it made on everyone it touched.  Not only did this project bring Mothers and daughters together but it also brought our organization together.  Everyone wanted to participate in one way or another.  This event also contributed to the backdrop of launching our Friends of Coal Juniors.  Many of these young individuals delivered Christmas gifts with us during the month of December.  It was a very unique and unforgettable experience for every one of us.

We felt that it was very important that you and the Salvation Army understood what it was in detail that we accomplished.  We were able to give 26 families which consisted of 122 individuals the following:

Each individual received (2) complete outfits, a coat, gloves, lotion, and/or aftershave.  According to the forms required by the Salvation each person also gave a selection of (3) different items they would like to have.  Whether it was a necklace, cologne, socks, or a key chain everyone received what they requested and more.  Each child was given (3) toys.  Not just any toy but the toys they had wished for; this was very important to us!  Our goal was to make sure each child got what they wanted at Christmas.  It is our hope that each recipient had a smile on their face Christmas morning!
